This mini-episode provides an overview of Home to Her, and a quick introduction to the Sacred Feminine. If you're brand new to the show and to Her wisdom, this is a great place to start!
Liz K: [00:00:10] Hi, everybody, thanks for joining me today for what I'm calling a mini episode introduction to this podcast to me and to what I mean when I say the sacred feminine. So first things first home to her is a podcast about the sacred feminine or the divine feminine, if you prefer. And if that language feels a little nebulous to you, I can relate. My first inkling of a divine feminine force was honestly kind of a hunch. I had the sense that somewhere in our past we must have had a tradition of honoring the female is sacred. I mean, it just made sense to me. Why wouldn't we? But what did that really mean and what would that look like? I had no clue. So one of my main goals of this podcast is to help anyone who's interested in learning about the sacred feminine to find her and access this wisdom in a way that meets you exactly where you are in life right now. In other words, I want to make this a little bit easier for you.
Liz K: [00:01:47] Then I felt like it was for me. Understanding who the sacred feminine is and what she represents, I think can truly change your life. And I say that from personal experience. When is she showed up for me, it was in a very unexpected way at a time when I was deeply invested in building my career and growing a business that I had started many years earlier, and her arrival and presence changed everything, so much so that I ended up selling the company I'd founded, and I've spent the last several years trying to learn as much as I can about the sacred feminine. Now, maybe you don't need that kind of dramatic life shift like I had, but I do feel that connecting with this wisdom has the power to transform your life in all kinds of beautiful, positive ways. So here's what you can expect from the show. Each episode other than this one will feature some awesome guests. I'll have an authors and poets, teachers, all kinds of people whose work has been really inspirational and helpful to me on this journey and whose work I believe can be really supportive of you to. We'll talk to those guests about their individual paths and what the sacred feminine means to them and how their work is connected to her.
Liz K: [00:03:14] But this leads me to another point. Who or what exactly is the sacred feminine? I explore this question with every guest who appears on the show, but I wanted to give you my answer and I'll share it with you in three parts. So here goes first part the sacred feminine is a historical fact, and this is really, really important. There's a mountain of evidence that verifies her existence in pretty much every corner of the world. In some cases, we have to travel way back in history to find it. And in some cases, we have to do some amateur sleuthing because a lot of her history was flat out stolen from us and intentionally omitted from the history books. Truth. But if you look, I can promise you will find her and you will find her not only in our ancient past. You will find her hiding in all of the prominent spiritual traditions of the last few thousand years, including the ones that have been most repressive to women, and you'll find her hiding in plain sight in popular culture today. So that's number one. Second part, the sacred feminine represents really specific spiritual ideas and principles. And for that reason, it's not as simple as just swapping out the word goddess to replace God or she for he.
Liz K: [00:04:46] In her traditions, we see radically different ideas than what we tend to prioritize today. For example, we see an absence of hierarchy. There's no God, there's no deity that's just sitting above us, all removed from us. Instead, there is this sacred life force energy that is pulsing through every single living thing. So because of this, we see a really deep reverence for all of life. We also see a true celebration of both the body and sexuality as sacred. And I don't know about you, but that is definitely not a message I ever heard in the Baptist Church that I was raised in. So those are just a couple of examples, and there's so much more I could say about what the sacred feminine represents, but hey, that's what the entire podcast is for. So to recap, the sacred feminine is a historical fact. And she represents really beautiful, powerful spiritual ideas that I think we are desperately needing in our world today. Now, here's the third part. She is real with a capital R. I think that most of us tend to think of the spiritual in the sacred and really abstract terms like it's out there somewhere in the cosmos. And if we could just, you know, clear our minds and all the junk of our ordinary lives, we could we could transcend it all and connect.
Liz K: [00:06:16] This is not the case with the sacred feminine we get to access her right here and now in the midst of our ordinary lives. And that is because she is all things. She is the dirt beneath our feet. She is the blood coursing through our bodies. She is every aspect of life, which means she is fully and completely available to us at all times. I mean, how great is that? So there's your overview. I hope this is piqued your curiosity, because we have a lot more to explore about the sacred feminine, and I really want you to join me, so I hope you'll meet me back here next time for more discussion. And as always, thank you for being here. Talk to you soon.
