Exploring the Divine Feminine in African Traditional Religions with Lilith Dorsey

Episode Summary

Who is the Divine Feminine in the African Traditional Religions? How does She appear in New Orleans Voodoo, Haitian Vodoun and other Afro-Caribbean traditions? As my guest on today's episode, Lilith Dorsey, wrote, "History has a long list of orishas, loas, goddesses, warrior women, and queens, who have embodied the sacred feminine from the dawn of time. These can serve as wise teachers from the past, helping us to navigate an empowered future." Lilith is a Voodoo Priestess, author, filmmaker and performer, who has undergone numerous initiations in Santeria (also known as Lucumi), Haitian Vodoun, and New Orleans Voodoo. On this episode we discuss some of the powerful Goddesses and Queens of these traditions, the meaning behind the powerful Goddess name Lilith, and how and why African Traditional Religions have been negatively portrayed in the media.
