Diving into our Her-story can be particularly challenging, given the lack of authentic information about women’s lived experiences and the warped stories patriarchal historians have chosen to record through the ages. But what if there were more magical, mystical women than we realized? What if they planted themselves right under patriarchy’s nose, for example, in the midst of the Catholic church in the 1500s? This is certainly the case with Saint Teresa, the “Wild Woman” of Avila, as I explore with my most recent guest, Coco Blignaut. Coco is an actress, playwright, author, and star and producer of the new film, SAINT, about the remarkable life of Saint Teresa. Born in South Africa, Coco has appeared in film and onstage in theaters in Cape Town, Paris, London, Los Angeles and Washington, DC, and is the author of three children’s books. And while she identifies as a Druidic Witch, She has also forged an undeniable bond with Saint Teresa. On the latest episode, we discuss Coco’s personal journey with St. Teresa and her mystical wisdom, ecstatic encounters with angels, and St. Teresa’s message to women today.
